BLACKPINK Inspired No-Bake Black Sesame Brownies Recipe By Kat Lieu, Perfect For Mother's Day!
Hi friends! I thought about what I'd make for my mom this year on Mother's Day and came up with this easy and quick recipe.
1) I'm very time-poor these days, and frankly, I'm lazy as F and always believe in working smarter, not harder. This leads to the next point…
2) I had already made a matcha version of these brownies and can quickly spin up a new flavor!
3) Black and pink are AESTHETIC to the max! WOOT BLACKPINK forever!
4) I love black sesame, and it's this year's flavor for me, especially during 2022 AAPIHM!
People tend to ask what black sesame tastes like: it's nutty, like peanut butter and tahini, fragrant when toasted, and slightly bitter but very little. It's harvested from the sesamum indicum plant, and many Asians believe that eating black sesame will lead to having long black hair for many years throughout their lives! My mom used to tell this to my sister and me, and for that reason, black sesame will always be a magical ingredient to me. It also makes food pleasantly aromatic and grayish-black. Always try the gray stuff; it's delicious!
As someone who no longer has grandfathers or a father to celebrate, I know I'll feel quite a bit of pain during Father's Day moving forward (I was so depressed last year, I remember), so I know not everyone will celebrate Mother's Day this year. You can make this recipe any other day of the year, enjoy it with a friend, or just by yourself when you're craving something super easy, sweet, and comforting to eat.
xoxoxo,
Kat
Note: The top layer can be any color or flavor really, so if you don’t have pink pitaya powder, fret not! You can make it gray with another layer of black sesame! Or try green with matcha. Or just skip the top layer! Recipes should only be used as a guide; feel free to change it up! Also if you use a smaller pan and don’t press the dough down so much, you’ll have a thicker “brownie.”
